puttu is considered the traditional dish of south India.puttu is considered healthy for it is prepared in steam and this dish tastes absolutely fantastic with grated coconut and rice flour.This an can be consumed along with Kadala curry or along with fish curry.
Ingredients of kerala rice puttu recipe
Rice flour 1 cup
Water ¾ cup
Grated coconut 4 tsp
Salt to taste
Preparation of kerala rice puttu recipe
1. Dissolve little salt in water and dissolve it and sprinkle it on rice flour and make it to a wet powder and divide it to 3 equal portions
2. Fill half of the bottom vessel of the puttu maker with water and take the cylindrical portion
3. First add a tsp of shredded coconut then layer it with a little rice mixture
4. Add another tsp of coconut to the top of the rice mixture and then the rice mixture and follow the same procedure till the flour and coconut fill the cylinder alternatively
5. Place the top portion of the puttu maker on the bottom vessel and cover it with a lid and cook on a medium heat for about 8 mins
6. Remove the cylindrical portion and slide the puttu on to the plate by pushing it with a spoon and then serve hot
