Ingredients of kerala style chena curry recipe ( Chena vanpayar erissery recipe | kerala traditional yam curry recipe )
Chopped elephant yam 1 cup, Black eyed beans ¼ cup, Green chilli 2, Pepper balls 4-5, Jeera ¼ tsp, Turmeric powder a pinch, Mustard ¼ tsp, Curry leaves few, Red chilli 1, Coconut 1-2 tsp

1. Grind chilli, turmeric, pepper and jeera to a paste
2. Soak the black eyed beans for about 2-3 hours or overnight and pressure cook it till 3-4 whistles
3. Cut the yam to pieces and cook in a pan with little water and turmeric powder till cooked and then drain the excess water
4. Heat oil in a pan add mustard, split chilli and curry leaves and sauté for a min and to this add the ground paste and cook till the raw smell goes off
5. Add the cooked black eyed beans and the yam pieces and if required salt and cook for few mins till it gets
thickened and then remove from fire and serve
