How to prepare | make Banana puttu ( steamed ground rice )
Banana puttu is a great variety of south Indian brake fast special puttu. Puttu means steamed ground rice and is considered one of the healthiest brake fast in the world.Banana puttu is a great variety of puttu with banana,spices and onions adding up the taste factor.
Raw banana 2
Chopped onions ½ cup
Jeera ½ tsp
Pepper kennels ½ tsp
Mustard ½ tsp
Turmeric powder a pinch
Chillies 2-3 or chilli powder 1 tsp
Curry leaves few
Oil 2-3 tsp
Grated coconut 2-3 tsp
1. Cut the corners of raw banana and soak it in hot water for 5-10 mins
2. Peel the skin and grate the banana and keep aside
3. Finely chop the onions and chillies
4. Heat oil in a kadhai add mustard, jeera, pepper and curry leaves and saute till they splutter
5. Add chopped onions and chillies and saute till they turn golden brown
6. Add the grated banana, turmeric powder, required salt and mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2-3 mins
7. Add the grated coconut and cook for 2-3 mins and then serve
